Alberque El Socorro is a private reserve that is located between the National Park Volcano Poas and the National Park Braulio Carrillo. The property sits at an altitude of 1000 meters which alllows for unique and different bird sightings.
From the town of San Miguel it is ten kilometers to the reserve. This location serves an important part of the biological corridor in the valley of the Sarapiqui River. The reserve has over 250 hectares of primary forest, including fantastic waterfalls and scenic views of the San Fernando River.
This is also an excellent place for scientific research and education. Come spend a couple of days here and learn all about the primary rain forest and all its flora and fauna!
Route to Albergue el Socorro
From Alajuela to Albergue El Socorro
(via San Miguel de Sarapiquí).
From the city Alajuela (the airport) take the road towards Carrizal. When you reach Carrizal go by the junction to the left and follow that road in the direction of San Miguel de Sarapiqui. When you reach the village of San Miguel turn right 300 meters after the church. From here you have 8 kilometers. Follow the signs up to Albergue El Socorro.
